The day 20 prompt for Inktober was “deep”. I went with Sktchy for inspiration today. This was one of their curated suggestions for deep, as in deep in thought.

The Inktober prompt was “cloud” for day 19. I really didn’t want to draw an actual cloud so instead thought about song lyrics. The Rolling Stones “Get off of my cloud” was what came to mind.

“Bow to the Queen of Slime, the Queen of FILTH, the Queen of Putrescence!”
The Inktober Day 18 prompt was “filthy”. Yeah, I changed the word slightly. This is the old hag in Buttercup’s nightmare who “boo’s” her. Read More
I am determined to catch up on my Inktober drawings and posts this weekend. The prompt for day 17 was “graceful” and I chose Princess Buttercup on horseback in The Princess Bride. Sometimes things don’t work out the way you want and you just have to call it done and move on.
Your feed will be flooded with my other catching up posts later today. Three other Inktober drawing’s are complete and not yet posted, and another will be done this afternoon. That is the plan, anyway!

Day 13 of the Inktober drawing challenge is here and the prompt is “teeming”. This scene from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom certainly fits the bill, though the creepy crawlies are hidden in darkness and merely suggested by the crunching sound.
Short Round: “It feels like I step on fortune cookies.”
Jones: “It’s not fortune cookies…” Read More

The Inktober day 10 prompt was “gigantic”, so I just had to do Andre the Giant in The Princess Bride. If you haven’t guessed already it is my favorite film.
This is a super quick sketch on a page with a couple other loose scribbles that weren’t quite working out. They were meant to be preliminary sketches but ended up being all I got done for Inktober yesterday. I like the way the page looks because it shows a little bit of process.
I’m a little behind as I still haven’t finished my drawing for the ninth. No worries. I will get it done.

Today I continued Inktober with another Princess Bride fan art piece. The prompt today was “crooked” and Vizzini is definitely crooked.
Vizzini: “We are but three lost circus performers. Is there a village nearby?”
Buttercup: “There is nothing nearby. Not for miles.”
Vizzini: “Then there will be no one to hear you scream.”
My approach here was to use a very light, warm gray to sketch the shapes in loosely at first, and refining and defining later in darker grays. I stared at Vizzini’s jacket for a long time trying to figure out how to render it without losing my mind. I never realized how fancy that dude’s costume is! Something an art teacher said a long time ago came to mind: “indicate, don’t state”. So that’s what I went for; an indication of embroidery.
So there! I’m caught up. Tomorrow’s prompt is “screech”. Screech could be a synonym of shriek- that’s what I’m going to run with. Can you guess what I might draw?
