This is a trial proof of the color version of my new woodcut print. I printed magenta first, then blue, then yellow, and finally black. The yellow block is where the magic happens,
creating green where it prints over blue and orange where it prints over magenta. This state was pretty close to finished. Just a little more carving and correcting, and I switched to a different paper.
I stated previously that my online shop would open this week but I am delaying until the week of the 21st. I have good reason! I have been commissioned to paint a mural in a restaurant that opens next week. I’m not going to say who or where but I will post pictures when it’s done. The restaurant owner wasn’t sure what they wanted in this mural- they simply had a blank wall that needed something. A friend of mine is the manager and he said, “Hey, I know a guy…”
The restaurant I will be painting in is a breakfast and lunch place and the suggestion they gave me was to make it coffee related. If you have followed this blog for a while you may remember last summer I drew my coffee and sometimes breakfast every morning. I started towards the end of March and did it almost every day through July, filling three sketchbooks. So those books were what I turned to for inspiration this morning! I’m excited about this project. Nervous, too, but excited. Am I going to have to add a “mural” category to the blog?
