The family spent this past Friday night at my father-in-law’s farm in Bastrop, Texas. My favorite thing to do there is drink coffee on the porch while watching the sunrise. I drew this Mesquite tree while doing just that Saturday morning. Mesquites are interesting to me because they can be quite pretty when they are grown, but when they are just starting out they have these wicked thorns that can be several inches long. One of the many reasons that shorts and flip-flops are not proper farm attire.
